De-Influencing Social Trends

2024 is the year we de-influence social media “trends.” And no, we’re not talking about influencers, we’re talking about things we need to stop prioritizing in social media.

#1: Post times do not make or break your post performance

Here’s why post times don’t necessarily work: the algorithms push posts when they want to. This means you could see a post when it’s immediately posted and engage with it, or you won’t get served that post until three days from now and then you engage with it. The algorithm has changed so that whenever your users see your post, that’s when they engage with it – not necessarily when they’re most active.

Publish your post whenever you want.

#2: Posting every day or posting just to post is a no-no

To be perfectly honest, this has never been in. I’m not sure why people put emphasis on this. If you’re running a brand account, you absolutely need to be consistent. This means having a good posting cadence with quality content so that your brand stays top of mind for your consumers. Post content that is meaningful to your brand and post when it makes sense. No one is thinking about why your brand hasn’t posted today.

QUALITY > QUANTITY

#3: Your brand doesn’t need to be on every platform to be successful

There are a ton of social media platforms (in fact, I’m sure a new platform just got created as you read this), and I can guarantee you that your brand doesn’t fit half of them.

Why would you want to have a bunch of platforms that you can barely keep a strategy on? If you’re finding that you’re having a hard time keeping the strategy consistent, it’s probably because the platform doesn’t make sense for your brand/brand audience. Instead, foster a great community and strategy on 1-3 platforms that make sense for your brand. Don’t force it if it doesn’t fit.
